Walk to the bridge at the entrance to Königstal valley either from Obergurgl or Hochgurgl. Towards the upper valley first you keep to the right, then to the left along Königsbach brooklet. A slightly rising trail takes you to Zollhütte hut. Then via Schieferböden area up to Königsjoch. The weekly organized Smugglers' Hike takes walkers right across the col down to the South Tyrolean pasturelands.
Author’s recommendation
From the Königsjoch ridge leads a beautiful path to the Glanegg Alm (2.060 m) to South Tyrol (walking time approx. 2 hrs.). From the hut you reach the bus stop in 5 minutes walking time. Busses run back to Obergurgl 4x per day. Bus timetable under www.oetztaler.at.

Public transport
Enjoy a both comfortable and relaxing train ride to the train station in Ötztal Bahnhof. You get off the train in ÖTZTAL Bahnhof where you change to a public bus or local taxi. The current bus schedule can be found at: http://fahrplan.vvt.at
Getting there
The car drive to the Ötztal valley. Situated in Tirol, the Ötztal valley set off in southerly direction and is the longest side valley in the Eastern Alps. The journey with the car leads you through the Inntal valley to the entrance of the valley and further on through the valley. Among the toll motorways you can also use the country roads. - Parking garage (bottom station Festkogl gondola, chargeable | € 2,00 / hour

- Parking Top Mountain Crosspoint, free of charge
- Parking Hochgurgl, free of charge (very small parking)
